I was lucky enough to be brought up in Newtonmore, in the Cairngorm National Park, where I developed my love of sport and the outdoors. My earliest skiing memories are as a wee boy heading off on the Cairngorm bus to meet friends on the hill and hoon around like a mad thing in horrendous weather and loving every second of it!
After University and a brief spell in Canada, I met my wife Dianne and we began working Alpine seasons soon after. Initially working for tour operators until a friend introduced me to ski racing, training alongside aspirant French instructors. Newly inspired, I began working through the BASI system and have been teaching full time in France for about 12 years now.
Although I have worked in a lot of resorts over the years I keep coming back to L2A for the friendly atmosphere, great skiing and the chance to share my knowledge and passion for skiing here and La Grave.
I have a unique style of coaching; I am delighted that every season lots of skiers come back to me for lessons because they enjoy my teaching and my enthusiasm. We will cover the latest techniques in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

Dianne was brought up in Hull, which is a bit of a flat place, but she quickly grew to love mountains when she began living in the Highlands and working in the Alps! Although a qualified ski instructor Dianne runs the administrative side of the L2A BASS operation. As well as obviously enjoying skiing Dianne loves to cook, travel and most of all walk Rusty, the family pet.
Dianne has a lot of ski school experience having previously worked as an instructor and administrator for ski schools in Scotland and France.
