BASS Level 3 & 4 Course Course Content

The B.E.S.T program

1. A season long course involving 10 weeks x 15 hours trainer contact time, 5 x 3 hour afternoons. Up to 6 weeks shadowing the BASS team available. Assistance with finding work opportunities during peek weeks, Home study, SSE project and structured practice (recommended).

2. Inclusion of a statement of priority along the lines of 'Work experience is an essential part of the development towards higher qualifications. BASS strongly recommend that all trainees seek every opportunity to add to the number of working hours required by BASI. Shadowing and mentoring are opportunities reserved for BEST trainees to enable them to develop their teaching and coaching skills at the higher levels they would not usually have access to during normal work experience. The time spent in this development is in no way credited to the hours required by BASI.

3. ISIA and ISTD trainees will work together unless numbers allow for 2 groups. Should numbers exceed that required to run one group but not sufficient to run 2 then 1 or 2 extra sessions will be allocated to split the group levels. Should the numbers be insufficient to run 1 group, the students will be offered the options of cancelling or running with a shorter program.

4. In addition to the established trainers, level 3 or level 4 BASI trainers will be utilised to deliver days to assess the levels of the trainees and recommend performance goals.
