Thank you very much for booking with the British Alpine Ski School in Chatel. We take great care to provide you with a quality of service that exceeds your expectations. We hope that you enjoy your time with us and choose to return soon.

Here is the inevitable small print.

All bookings with the British Alpine Ski School in Chatel and other local ski resorts, are subject to these conditions. This contract will be governed by, and construed and interpreted in accordance with, English law.

Clients attending our courses must pay the appropriate fee in full, before joining the class.

We accept payment by bank transfer.

In the case of advance bookings, we will reserve your place for a maximum of ten days from the date of issue of the fee note. Please return your remittance within this period to confirm your booking. No contract will exist until we receive your payment.



Considerations

The programme of session times, venues etc. is set at the beginning of each week and are subject to change at any time.

Clients should present themselves in a fit and safe condition for physical activity in the mountain environment. The teacher/trainer/coach will use professional judgement to select activities suitable to the local conditions and client ability.

Sessions may include off-piste skiing for which, you must have adequate insurance for activities outside the marked ski area.  Avalanche safety equipment may be required and may be provided or rented from local suppliers.  We reserve the right to change course programmes for safety reasons.

BASS Chatel reserves the right to remove you from sessions with no refund if:

1.     Your behaviour is deemed to be inappropriate, unsafe or detrimental to BASS Chatel.

2.     You are under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Course places are not transferable from one client to another.

BASS Chatel reserves the right to cancel any course or lesson whether confirmed or unconfirmed in extraordinary circumstances. In this case, all course fees will be refunded in full. No compensation will be paid for any other expenses incurred.

Cancellation by the client must be made in writing to BASS Chatel. Email is accepted.

Photography

Photos and video taken during sessions may be used on BASS Chatel websites, newsletters, social media for marketing purposes plus instructor training.

You must inform us if you do not want your image to be used.

 

Complaints

If, at any time during your course, you have cause for complaint, you must let us know immediately and we will endeavor to address the situation, to your satisfaction.

SKI SCHOOL CANCELLATION POLICY 

Ski School Standard

In the event of you cancelling your booking, in whole or in part, the following charges apply:

More than 42 days notice       -           20% of fee

41 to 15 days notice               -           50% of fee

14 to 8 days notice                 -           80% of fee

7 or less days notice               -           100% of fee

No refund will be given by BASS Chatel, in whole or in part, for unused lessons due to client late arrival, illness, accident, resort closure due to weather conditions or mechanical failure, or for any other cause outside the control of BASS Chatel, unless explicitly covered within the COVID-19 cancellation policy below.

 

Ski School Force Majeure – not linked to COVID-19

In no event shall BASS Chatel be held responsible or liable for any failure or delay in the performance of its obligations where it was legally and/or physically impossible for the lessons to be performed, such as an event covered by the term ‘Act of God’ (e.g. severe weather, volcano eruption, earthquake) or events such as war, epidemic, pandemic, disease control measures implemented by the resort, government intervention (including executive orders, refusal of licence to operate for political reasons, travel restrictions), strike, criminal and/or tortious conduct on your part or any other event beyond the control of the supplier (a “Force Majeure Event”). 

  • BASS Chatel shall notify the other party as soon as is practicable following commencement of a Force Majeure Event.

  • We will make reasonable efforts, which are consistent with accepted practices within the snowsports industry, to resume performance as soon as and if practicable in the circumstances as they exist at the time.

  • In the event of a Force Majeure Event, and where we are unable to resume performance in time for the contract to be fulfilled, you will not be entitled to a refund.

 

Ski School COVID-19

Should you cancel your booking, in whole or in part, or lessons cannot be delivered for any of the following COVID-19 causes, we will refund all unused lessons, less a 20% booking charge:

  • The ski infrastructure is closed by the French Government or local authorities.

  • The border into France, from your country of residence, is closed.

  • The border out of your country of residence is closed.

  • Quarantine of more than 7 days is imposed by France.

You must comply with all current local and national safety protocols.

The Ski School Standard cancellation policy, (above), applies if you cancel your booking or lessons due to any other COVID-19 related event. See insurance section above.

The Ski School reserves the right to cancel its lessons for a variety of reasons. Full refunds of unused lessons will be made in this instance.

Course places are not transferable.

The ski school does not insure its clients. You are obliged to insure yourself for third party liability. We recommend that you arrange an appropriate policy, which also includes personal, medical and rescue insurance, with a licensed agent.

Minimum numbers and course duration

We require a minimum of three clients to allow these courses to run for the specified duration.

With fewer numbers, we can run some of our courses for a reduced time.

We are obliged to take into account the prevailing conditions and the standards of our clients. We, therefore, establish our programme of class times, venues etc. at the beginning of each week. These arrangements are always subject to alteration in the light of prevailing circumstances.

For reasons of safety, it is a condition of booking that you will respect the professional judgment of your instructor while you are in the class.

Clients should present themselves in a fit and safe condition for physical activity in the mountain environment.
