Chatel is a very pcituresque swiss style village with lots of wooden chalets and beautiful forested mountains, situated at the centre of the massive Porte du Soleil ski area (630kms of groomed runs). Chatels northerly aspect means that it gains snow early in the winter and holds snow through to the end of April. 

The Ski School meeting place at Pre La Joux is very central to the Porte du Soleil providing easy access to Avoriaz and Switzerland. The Pre la Joux/Plein Dranse part of the Porte Du Soleil offers a full range of Psites and Off Piste challenges catering for complete beginners up to very advanced skiers who are looking for Off Piste adventure or a challenge in the bumps.

Chatel location on the Swiss French border means that culturally it has a mix of Swiss and French cultures this is visible in the architecture, the food and the personality of the local people.
